Varsity Cup Entertainment

Varstiy Cup games played on the UCT grounds on Monday afternoons have also been a part of my entertainment during the week over the last couple of months. However UCT has made it to the finals and the season is coming to an end. Unfortunately UCT cannot host the finals due to the fact that their field's flood lights are not strong enough for a 7pm game to be filmed.

Here is a video clip of one of the games that i managed to get some air time. It's my claim to 30 seconds of fame:

Monday nights would often end in a festive vibrate celebration at Forries, formally known as Foresters Arms Pub. Forries is the most popular pub in Newlands and definitely considered to be one of the top pubs in the whole of Cape Town. It is very alive and energetic when sports games are taking place and is close to the cricket and rugby stadiums which results in it being a well known destination for festivities after the matches. The pub has been around for years, my parents always talk about how they used to jol at Forries. It is an extremely successful pub with a lot of character and i'm sure it will be around for many years to come.

A Saturday Outing- The Old Biscuit Mill

The old Biscuit Mill is a market situated in Albert Road, Woodstock which has become a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon. It is a busy vibrant market which was established in 2006 as an organic farmers' market, occupying an old Victorian warehouse and features more than 100 specialty traders. Every palate is satisfied with the fresh and organic produce ranging to gourmet sandwiches and delicious desserts. The market also consists of a design section which caters for those who have a passion for fine jewelry, vintage fashions, handcrafted furniture and ceramics. The Old Biscuit Mill market also has a "kindergoods section" to cater for the children so that they are not left out in the markets experience. The market is considered as offering a "green" experience, as the goods being sold are generally organic and the market offers and on site recycle depot, but in addition to these two aspects the Old Biscuit Mill building itself has been built according to eco-friendly principles.

Being on top of the world

Hiking up Lions Head on an evening when the moon is full, is absolutely magnificent. You feel like you are sitting on top of the world and have no worries. As you hiking up you have the best view of a Cape Town sunset, and when you finally make it to the top you have a spectacular view of the beautiful moon glowing over the city.

The picture above is a picture of a group of us hiking up Lions Head and settling on what feels like 'the top of the world' for a couple of drinks and snacks. There is no better way to end off a stressful day at college and add to your week.

Lions Head has become something i try do at least twice a week, weather it be for sunrise or sunset. It either starts my day off on a brilliant not, or ends my day amazingly.

After noticing that full moon is on the 19th of March, just around the corner, i decided to gather a crew together and make a mission up Lions Head to watch a beautiful sunset and a glowing full moon lighten up the entire city. In posts to follow you will see the beauty of the adventure :)

The sandy shores of the magnificent CT coastlines

When cash is low and you wish for a fun day out with your friends, there is nothing that can compare to a summers day on a Cape Town beach. If you think you may enjoy a day in the sun on the sandy shores of the magnificent Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town’s beaches are a cost free experience for anyone to be apart of. Cape Town has some of the most stunning beaches in the world. It is a mind-blowing experience that leaves you walking away with a smile, feeling rejuvenated and sun kissed.

In my opinion a perfect summer's Sunday would be spent with friends on the beach and later heading to the Camps Bay strip for cocktails and festivities at Caprice, St Yves or Karma later that night. It's a great way to end your weekend. It leaves you feeling as if you living the Cape Town dream!
